Kaitseliit (Defence League) medical certificate
When joining the Estonian Defence League (Kaitseliit), the membership application must be accompanied by a medical certificate in which the family doctor confirms that the applicant's health is suitable for Defence League service.

Application process
Book a family nurse or family doctor appointment. Before the appointment, we recommend filling in the health declaration in the national health portal terviseportaal.ee. If the declaration is filled in on paper at the appointment, 10 € is added to the service price.
At the appointment, your general state of health is assessed: blood pressure is measured, vision is checked, and your health records and previous diagnoses are reviewed.
Please bring with you
- identity document;
- any aids used permanently (glasses, contact lenses, hearing aid, etc.).
Important to know
- The certificate is submitted to the local unit (malev) together with the Defence League membership application.
- If you wish to apply for a firearms licence within the Defence League, the firearms licence certificate requirements apply — see Firearms licence medical certificate.
- If a health condition precludes issuing the certificate, the doctor will not issue it. The consultation fee is not refunded.
